Are You Scared to let Your Personality Shine?
September 25, 2009 by: JennOk, I admit it, when I first started my Wordzopolis blog I was scared to let my personality shine.
Why was I afraid?
Well to be perfectly honest my personality is not always easy to handle. I am willing to admit that I can be a little harsh sometimes. I can be blunt with what I say, but I try not to be harmful. I don’t believe in bullshitting people and yes, I do use profanity. I don’t sugar coat mu clients. I am willing to tell the truth, even when it hurts. If I don’t know something, I say so. If I don’t agree, I will tell you. If something shouldn’t be done, I will tell you. I am willing to walk away from a prospect or client if I can’t get on board with the direction in which they are headed, I don’t stand on the train tracks when I see a train coming. I get out of the way.
I want to make money as much as the next person but I won’t take your money if I believe that you are wasting your money and my time. If don’t want you mad at me if things don’t go the way you want. I don’t to have to say, “Told you so,” and I am the kind of person who will say it. When I am wrong, I am willing to admit it. I don’t know everything and I am not perfect. I work hard to do the best that I can for the people work with and for.
Do you want to work with a consultant who tells you want you want to hear or need to hear? Do you have the nerves to hear the truth?
I don’t want to work with people who are not willing to put the work into their marketing program. For many people marketing and sales are scary, but without them you have no business. I want to work with people who are bold, daring and willing to stare fear in the face and step up to it. I like clients with balls. I am not talking about doing crazy things to get attention for your business. I am talking about picking up the phone and making the call when you are scared. I am talking about setting realistic marketing goals and going after the achievement of those goals. I am talking about those who hear there is a recession and refuse to participate. There are buyers out there somewhere and they are willing to find them.
Are you lacking clients and know it is because of your fear of marketing? Do you read market-planning books and they leave you depressed or confused? Are you willing to make a commitment to marketing but need a plan that resonates with you and your personality? Do you need a plan that is easy for you to implement and manage? Let’s face it; if you don’t currently have enough clients, then you have time to market your business. What are you waiting for?
I am not saying that it is going to be easy. I am saying that it can be done.
