Prospects have lost trust in businesses, even in known reputable businesses, think AIG. In today’s marketplace with budgets being cut back and prospects weary, it is paramount that you build trust with prospects in order to turn them into clients.
Here are an additional six ways that you can use your website to help build trust with clients. These six tips are in addition to the 11 tips I offered in a previous post.
- Offer a FAQ section to your website so that prospects can have commonly asked questions answered for them. Most prospects will not contact you to ask questions they will just move onto the next website.
- Show them that you understand their problems, educate them and give them resources that they can use to investigate the information that you are providing to them.
- Make it easy for them to contact you if they do want more information, offer the ability to contact you in a variety of ways.
- Show up often in the different places they turn to for information. Get articles in the newsletters, publications and websites that they read. Remember that a prospect has to see your company’s name at least seven times before they realize that they have seen the name before.
- Talk to them in a way that is easy for them to understand. Do not use big words or industry jargon.
- Offer a guarantee with your product or service.
Trust is the key in today’s business climate. Everyday your prospects hear about someone defrauded and they are working hard to make sure that they will not be next. You must show them that you can be trusted and value their business. With the increase use of the internet, prospects are spending more time researching options before deciding on a vendor. Building trust with prospects will help them decide to choose your business as their vendor of choice.

Great article on the building trust with your prospects and clients.
I also think a fundamental way to build trust is your availability to communicate with them.
In this real-time society, clients need to know they can reach you immediately if needed. I always ask my clients how they best like to be communicated to (i.e. email, phone, text, etc.) and I respect and use their favorite communication medium. For example, one of my clients ONLY wants to be communicated to via text, so I upgraded my cell phone plan to allow for this.
Jane,
Wonderful, you are right on the money. Communication is the key to any relationship and being available in a variety of ways is a great idea. Accommodating your clients preferences is a great step towards providing excellent customer service.
